With 20 years of experience in dental and medical fields, you know that your treatment will be in the safest of hands.
Understandably, patients can be very anxious about undergoing surgical dental extractions. Alastair will support you throughout the process and can offer treatment to be carried out with sedation or under general anaesthesia, if required, with the help of highly skilled specialist head and neck Consultant Anaesthetists.

Alastair also has completed his medical and surgical training and is on the specialist list for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as a Consultant.
Alastair has received comprehensive training in the management of complications that may arise from dental surgery and provides this as a service for other clinicians as required.
Jaw Pathology
Within his role as a NHS Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial / Head and neck surgeon at Guy’s Hospital, Alastair manages the full remit of jaw pathology, ranging from simple benign cysts to malignant tumours. His dual dental and medical background make him ideally positioned to provide treatment for jaw pathology and rehabilitation, ie replacement of teeth etc often with grafts and dental implants.
Cysts
Jaw cysts often present with painless bony lumps in either the upper jaw or lower jaw. Sometimes these are associated with teeth which are either badly broken down or unerupted. These are usually managed with simple removal.
More complex cysts or bone lesions can occur such as Ameloblastomas or Odontogenic Keratocysts. These are relatively rare in nature and require careful specialist consideration.
In addition to providing care Privately at The Cromwell Hospital, Alastair works with colleagues at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Hospital to manage all of these lesions, and can provide a large amount of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment.
